First Annual PUCCS (Program for Understanding Childhood Concussion and Stroke) Charity Hockey Tournament Taking Place on November 27th, 2011 Special Appearance by Eric Lindros

Buffalo, NY October 18, 2011 - The first annual PUCCS (Program for Understanding Childhood Concussion and Stroke) Charity Hockey Tournament will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Holiday Twin Rinks (3465 Broadway Street, Cheektowaga), with net proceeds funding childhood concussion and stroke research. Eric Lindros will be making a special appearance at the event.

Eight adult hockey teams will play in an all-day USA Hockey-endorsed tournament - the team that raises the most funds will play the Sabres Alumni Team in an exhibition match at 5:00 pm that evening. Admission is free but spectators are encouraged to make a donation to PUCCS.

The Sabres Alumni players will have an autograph session in between periods of their game, at approximately 5:30 pm. A silent and live auction will be held at the tournament - auction items include pro hockey player-signed hockey jerseys and sticks, as well as gift baskets. A live auction will take place on the ice immediately following the Sabres Alumni game, at approximately 6:00 pm.

Sponsors to date include Dent Neurological Institute, Cellino & Barnes, Kaleida Health, Independent Health, the Josephine Goodyear Foundation, and Niagara Metals. Volunteers from UB Neurosurgery and UB School of Nursing will staff the event. For more information, go to www.puccs.org or contact Emily Wyckoff at ewyckoff@roadrunner.com.
